Shiba Inu Memorial Urns

A Shiba Inu urn needs three things right or it stops being a Shiba: the tail curled over the back, the small triangular ears set wide, and the pale urajiro markings running up the muzzle and chest. We sculpt all three by hand from your photos.

Ceramic Shiba Inu memorial urn with a hand-sculpted figurine on the lid

Product images are digital visualisations, not photographs of finished pieces. Every piece is genuinely made by hand in our studio, and because of that yours will differ from what you see here.

Sculpting a Shiba Inu

The curled tail is the hardest part and the part everyone notices. It has to sit over the back at the right angle without touching it — leave a gap that is too small and the glaze bridges across during firing, fusing the tail to the body.

Shibas carry their weight forward, on a compact square frame. Sculpt one with the proportions of a generic spitz and it reads as a small Husky instead.

The face is the giveaway. A Shiba muzzle is short and tapers sharply, and the eyes are set at a slight upward slant. Getting that slant wrong is what makes a figurine look like the right colour but the wrong dog.

What we look for in your photos

  • Urajiro — the cream markings on cheeks, throat, chest and inner legs. Almost every Shiba has them and their exact shape is individual.
  • Ear set: small, thick, triangular, tilted slightly forward.
  • Coat colour: red, sesame, black and tan, or cream. Red is by far the most common and fires slightly darker than it looks unglazed.
  • The tail curl direction — left or right — is individual to the dog. Send a photo from above if you can.

Which size for a Shiba Inu?

Typical adult weight is 8–11 kg. Most Shibas fit size S comfortably. Larger males close to 11 kg are safer in size M.

Size is chosen by your pet's weight before cremation, not by breed average — use their weight if you know it. The full chart is on our size guide.
