Ocean and Nautical Pet Urns
An ocean pet urn is painted with rolling waves around the base of the jar, sometimes with a small lighthouse or a strip of shoreline. It is made for the dogs who went into the sea whatever the weather and had to be dried in the car afterwards.

Water dogs are a distinct category and their owners know it. Retrievers, spaniels, anything that treated a beach as a personal event — the memory is almost always of them coming out soaked and delighted.
The coast also has an older association with departure and safe passage, which is why lighthouses turn up on memorial objects far more often than their literal usefulness would explain.

How this design is made
Waves are painted in three tones of blue, wet-on-wet, so the edges blur the way water does. White crests are added last in thick slip and are the only part of the surface you can feel.
If you ask for a lighthouse we sculpt it small — thumb-sized, on the opposite side from the figurine, so you have to turn the urn to find it.
Blues shift noticeably in the kiln. We fire a test tile alongside larger commissions so we can show you the actual colour rather than a screen approximation.
