Celestial Pet Urns — Moon, Stars and Night Sky

A celestial pet urn is painted with a night sky — a crescent moon, scattered stars, sometimes a small rainbow arc — with your pet sculpted on the lid as though sitting up there. It suits people who find the idea of a star more bearable than the idea of a grave.

Celestial ceramic pet urn with a hand-sculpted figurine on the lid

Why people choose celestial

"They are up there somewhere" is the thing almost everyone says, whatever they actually believe. The night sky is the one image that lets you point at something without having to be sure about it.

It also carries no doctrine. A star asks nothing of you and contradicts nothing you hold, which is why it turns up on memorials across traditions that agree on very little else.

Product images are digital visualisations, not photographs of finished pieces. Every piece is genuinely made by hand in our studio, and because of that yours will differ from what you see here.

Yours will differ — each figurine is sculpted from your own pet's photos.

How this design is made

The body is glazed in a deep midnight or dusk blue, and the stars are applied afterwards in a pale slip so they stand slightly proud of the surface. You can feel them with a thumb.

The moon is usually a crescent on one side, sized so the pet figurine on the lid appears to be sitting just above it when the urn is seen from the front.

Deep blues are the hardest colour to fire consistently at 1200°C — the glaze moves as it melts. No two night skies come out identical, which in this case is the point.
